The Best Diet - The Healthiest Diet
For the first time ever, five popular international diet books were put to the test on the national TV program The Great Weight Debate.
The process was managed by an independent group over a two month period. The five books chosen from the "best-seller" lists for The Great Weight Debate were:
- Atkins, Low G.I,
- Liver Cleansing
- CSIRO and
- Dr. John Tickell's The Great Australian Diet
One hundred participants from all walks of life were chosen by the independent production company. They were weighed, measured, handed one of the books at random and then sent back to their daily lives with no personal trainers, no 'house lock ups', nothing - just a diet book. This was real life stuff - real people in the real world trialing different diets.
After a period of several weeks, the participants were re-measured and the evaluations rated The Great Australian Diet as No. 1 in the following categories:
The Winner - #1 The Great Australian Diet
Largest percentage weight loss - Joanne Fischer lost 13.3kg in 8 weeks. One year later, Joanne has not only kept the weight off, she has now lost the 25kg she had always wanted to lose and is feeling great.Participants' Own Ratings - #1 The Great Australian Diet
Results as rated by participants themselves taking into account: weight loss, energy and health, user friendliness, cost and preparation. Significantly, whilst the participants rated the GAD highly, they also rated the high protein diets (Atkins and CSIRO) as last and second last.Compliance - #1 The Great Australian Diet (no drop outs)
The groups on The Great Australian Diet and the Low G.I. diet had zero dropouts. The high protein diets (CSIRO and Atkins) had the largest number of dropouts.Exercising - #1 The Great Australian Diet
100% of The Great Australian Diet group was reported to be exercising - more than in any other group.Sustainability - #1 The Great Australian Diet
Participants were asked whether they thought they would continue with the dietary advice. 95% of The Great Australian Diet group said they would continue, compared with 40% or less for the high protein diets (CSIRO and Atkins).
Most Weight Loss - #2 The Great Australian Diet
The Atkins group lost an average of 1.6kg more than The Great Australian Diet group but the majority of the Atkins followers reported that they "hated it" and "could not keep going."
Summary
The Great Australian Diet is the healthiest and the best for sustainable weight loss AND The Great Australian Diet group reported that they did not need to prepare separate meals - the whole family was served (and enjoyed) the same natural foods!
